THE HAPPY HOLLISTERS (DOUBLEDAY)

Series Note: An American series of 33 novels for young people (age group 7-11 years). The theme of the novels is as follows: The Hollisters are a middle-class family living in Pine Lake, Shoreham, in the U.S. state of Vermont. Young and handsome, the parents have five children, ranging in age from four to twelve: two boys and three girls. Together, they enjoy solving the various puzzles they encounter during their vacations and travels.

All of the novels were written by Jerry West, which was actually the pen name of a collective of writers working for the Stratemeyer Syndicate that which produced a number of other children's book series such as The Rover Boys, The Bobbsey Twins, The Hardy Boys, Tom Swift and Nancy Drew.

Most of the titles in the series were published by Doubleday & Company, Inc., New York and others by the Doubleby imprint, Garden City Publishing, New York. The books were printed in three formats: trade edition hardcover with dustwrapper, trade edition hardcover with pictorial cover, and book cover edition with dustwrapper. Two color illustrations by Helen Hamilton appeared throughout the text.

In the U.K. the series was published by World Distributors, London. Titles in the series were translated into French, Spanish, Swedish, Norwegian and German.
