Series Note: Leon Comber, the head of Heinemann Asia, described this series as "a list of children's books... based on the retelling of little-known Asian folktales and legends in simple straightforward English". He added: "I thought these children's books could sell into the school market, too, as supplementary readers, since teachers had often told me there was a need for English readers with a familiar Asian flavour rather than stories about daffodils and snow."
